Welcome to Star Australian Shepherds. My kennel in is located in Lake Ann, Michigan on 5 acres of woods (well, I've cleared out a few acres for the dogs) in a beautiful lazy northern Michigan. just outside of a small resort town called Traverse City. This kennel is owned by me, Laura Baylis. I'm a single mom of 9 dogs, and we're growing! I've been involved with dogs all of my life, and have been involved with australian shepherds since 1996.

My dogs, and those I produce are my family. I strive to breed healthy, intelligent, well socialized dogs that will excel in conformation and other arenas of competition. To date we have produced agility champions, and some of the up and coming puppies are well on their way to getting their conformation champion title.

We only breed the best bitches to the best dogs. Our dogs and bitches are all OFA'd hips and elbows. The dogs eye's are cerf'd yearly and no expense is spared to ensure the health of our dogs, bitches and puppies. At least one of the parent, of every litter, is a Champion.

Our puppies receive the best of care, food and support that money can buy. They are raised in the house and have constant supervision and socialization. I use the Battaglia Method to socialize and nurture the puppies as they develop. All puppies tails are docked at 2-3 days, they receive a health check when they are born and before they are cleared to go to their new homes. They receive all shots as they are due and they are also microchipped.

All puppies are evaluated for temperament and conformation, to determine what type of home would be best suited to them. I breed 1 litter per year, but this may eventually increase to two litters in a year if two of my bitches are ready and cleared to breed.

We show most weekends from spring through fall, and some of our dogs are sent out with professional handlers. I show mainly in the AKC arena, but will also show the dogs in UKC and ASCA competitions.
